A “World Class” Ensemble.
From 1969 to 1975, Maestro Robert Shafer, at 22 and recently graduated from Catholic University in Washington DC embarked on a journey that created a choir of astounding quality: The Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers of James Madison High School in Vienna. Virginia. The choir gained national notoriety as one of the best public high school music programs and choirs in the US. The choirs impressed many national music critics and audiences with their unique sound and virtuosity. For the singers, their involvement with the program continues to inspire them today.
The JMHS Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers performed ; Carnegie Hall in NY, NY; The Vatican in Rome, and many concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, Washington, DC, among many other achievments.
